Zeek Taylor

Zeek Taylor is known for his stylized watercolors.  Primarily using a dry brush technique, he is able to achieve intricate detail not often found in this medium.  He favors transparent paint but at times combines the use of gouache and metallic ink in the same painting.  Each piece is surrounded by a meticulously hand-rendered border.

He has been described as a colorist with a keen sense of pattern.

An award winning artist, Zeek has been the subject of many one-man-exhibits and juried shows.  He is the 2012 recipient of the Arkansas Governor's Art Award for Lifetime Achievement, and currently has a painting hanging in the Arkansas Governor's Mansion.

His work has been displayed on three occasions in the Arkansas Arts Center, twice in the prestigious Delta Exhibition.

Zeek's images have been distributed worldwide as limited-edition prints by several companies including the Franklin Company of Chicago. He lives and maintains a studio in Eureka Springs, AR

“Working with watercolor, I often forsake the standard rules imposed on the medium, exploring all possibilities, while ever respectful of its’ transparent and fluid properties.  I paint with greater concern for style over realism with a focus on pattern and color theory.  The one rule that I adhere to is “break the rules,” Zeek Taylor.
