Carol Saari

Carol Saari paints in acrylics and in oil. The most frequent subjects undertaken are painting outdoors en plein aire, Hindu and Buddhist iconography, some nonformal pieces, life drawing and painting, and an occasional still life. Her works are a drawn reflection upon the art of painting itself: thoroughly self-referential, yet no less anesthetically pleasing, and therefore deeply inscribed in the history of modernism – made present most palpably in the artist’s exploration of some of the most hallowed of modernist paradigms.

Saari lives in Eureka Springs West, in the Grassy Knob area of Beaver Lake. In addition to painting, is an art conservationist at Norton Arts, Inc. in Newton County.

"It was complicated being an American yet born overseas, moving often growing up, having a good university experience at LSU, but feeling incomplete and wanting to make a contribution somehow. Parson’s School for Design, which is part of The New School in New York, pulled together a lot of these threads for me. The positive effects of fine art in history and on our individual awarenesses is what inspired me to go into art as a career.  Peace!" Carol Saari
